Ingredients

Sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
Chicken and Rice
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 lb chicken breast, diced (454 g)
  • 1 teaspoon neutral cooking oil
Garnish
  • Green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger until combined.
Cooking
  1. Warm the neutral cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and cook until browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F / 74°C.
  2. Add the honey-soy mixture to the cooked chicken and stir until evenly coated. Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
Assembly
  1. Portion the cooked rice into serving bowls. Spoon the sticky chicken over the rice and finish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra flavor, the diced chicken may be marinated in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. If marinating, reserve the sauce before it comes into contact with the raw chicken for use in the skillet.
