Ingredients

Oreo Crumb Layer
  • 36 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
Creamy Filling
  • 8 oz / 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 (3.4-ounce / 96 g) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (16-ounce / 454 g) tub whipped topping, thawed

Method

Preparation
  1. Process the Oreo cookies or crush them in a zip-top bag until they become fine crumbs.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, scraping down the bowl to eliminate any lumps.
  3. Mix the powdered sugar into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the milk until thick and smooth.
  5. Beat the pudding mixture and vanilla extract into the cream cheese mixture until evenly blended.
  6. Fold in the thawed whipped topping gently until the filling is light and uniform.
Assembly
  1. Cover the bottom of a large serving bowl, trifle dish, or individual cups with a layer of crushed Oreo cookies.
  2. Spread an even layer of the creamy filling over the cookie crumbs.
  3. Continue alternating Oreo crumbs and filling until the serving vessel is full, keeping enough crumbs for the top.
  4. Finish with a generous layer of crushed Oreo cookies over the surface.
Chilling
  1. Cover and refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 2 hours before serving; chill individual cups for 1 to 2 hours.

Notes

For a chocolate variation, use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla pudding; whipped cream can also be used in place of the whipped topping.
