Ingredients

  • 8 oz penne or spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for topping
  • Red pepper flakes, for topping and optional heat

Method

Cooking
  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks, until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes, until softened.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then stir until the seasonings are evenly distributed.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and use a spoon to loosen the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Mix in the heavy cream and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  8. Add the dry pasta and stir so it is coated in the sauce. Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked and the sauce has thickened.
  9. Stir the grated Parmesan into the pasta until melted and fully incorporated.
  10. Finish with fresh chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes. Serve hot.
