Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces / 305 g) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Set the oven to 350°F / 175°C and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat once fully cooked.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the browned beef, cooked white rice, condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Distribute the remaining ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake at 350°F / 175°C for 25–30 minutes, until the casserole is hot and bubbling and the cheese has melted with a lightly golden surface.
  7. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For make-ahead preparation, assemble the casserole and refrigerate it before baking.
